United Utilities Kirkbride reports smoother pumping operations 22 June 2011

An EZstrip maintain-in-place pump and two SB Muncher twin shaft, low speed high torque grinders, from NOV Mono, have been installed at United Utilities pumping station in Kirkbride, North Cumbria, to improve efficiency and cut downtime.

Chris Cooke, area maintenance engineer at Kirkbride explains that the site had been experiencing frustrating and costly problems with its previous centrifugal pumps blocking.

"We turned to NOV Mono, who we knew to be very reliable in raw sewage applications, to provide us with the answer we were looking for," says Cooke. .

"Installed on a duty assist operation at a capacity of 39m3/h, we specified NOV Mono's EZstrip cavity PC pump, which can be fully stripped down and maintained in just 30 minutes, along with two of its high-torque low speed SB Munchers," he continues.

"Since installation, the equipment has been operating smoothly and we couldn't be happier. With strip down of the EZstrip system so quick and easy, downtime at the site has been significantly reduced."
