The call follows reports that the UK may be hit by numerous power cuts in the coming months as the result of bad weather conditions. Businesses can manage this effectively by acting quickly and renting emergency power equipment.
“Winter is always a season of unpredictable weather for the UK and many businesses will be reluctant to invest heavily in backup electrical equipment,” explained Stuart Barnett, rental manager at ide Rental. “While there is no doubt that many project and plant managers will take recent reports with a pinch of salt, if they do not have a contingency plan in place, then renting equipment during this period is an alternative option deemed as a short term cost effective solution.
“Some companies will have very specific project requirements that may necessitate a bespoke solution,” continued Barnett. “In these instances, we conduct a site survey to understand the power requirements of the project and customise equipment accordingly. We can design a unit, such as a distribution panel, that will meet the demands of the project. Once the project is completed, we add this unit to our fleet of rental products for future customers to hire.
“We also find that many customers do not necessarily have a clear idea of what equipment they need. We have extensive experience and knowledge of several industries and we draw from this to ensure customers get the equipment they need to power projects effectively, whether it uses a standard range or something unique.”
