Infinis & ExxonMobil agree gas engine oil partnership01 December 2011

Renewable power generator Infinis has agreed a three-year contract with ExxonMobil to help optimise gas engines operating across its 123 landfill gas sites.

Stuart Milne, cluster lubricants manager UK and Ireland for ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties, explains that ExxonMobil will be supplying three gas engines oils, developed for use in LFG generating operations.

These are: Mobil Pegasus 605, Mobil Pegasus 610 and Mobil Pegasus SR, with Mobil Pegasus SR originally developed to address lubrication issues in gas engines operating at one of Infinis' own sites in the UK.

The contract also means more technical collaboration, with ExxonMobil and Infinis working in partnership to optimise lubricant performance longer term for Infinis' gas engines.

Milne cites the introduction of telemetry to monitor oil tanks remotely, so helping to reduce engineering site visits, as among current projects.

"As the challenges posed by LFG power generation continue to evolve, we will work with Infinis to help ensure both organisations remain at the forefront of developing the industry," states Milne.

"Continuing a working relationship that has been in place for over 15 years, we are pleased to see our partnership with ExxonMobil expand to include a technical collaboration, which will allow us to work more closely together," adds Stewart Gibbins, director of operations at Infinis.
