Wireless flow transmitter for remote turbine meters 20 April 2015

Emerson Process Management has introduced a wireless totalising flow transmitter to monitor turbine meters in remote applications.

According to Bob Karschnia, Emerson's vice president of wireless, the new Rosemount 705 transmitter can be installed quickly and deliver average flow and volume data from any turbine meter or pulse device.

The transmitter also provides predictive diagnostics data, to indicate instrument health, and supports maintenance intervention on issues before they impact operations.

"Unmeasured flow and volume in turbine meter or pulse applications can impact productivity and optimisation of other critical areas of production," states Karschnia.

"But locating analogue flow measurement has often been demanding or even impossible to implement when and where you want it. The Rosemount 705 transmitter answers these challenges by connecting directly to any new or existing meter or pulse device," he adds.

In operation, it sends data wirelessly eliminating cabling costs, speeding installation and enabling complete process data for better decision making, says Karschnia.

The transmitter calculates the total from a pulse measured from 0 to 10kHz and provides an optional continuous read out display.

It can be configured to reset at the unit or remotely via Modbus, EtherNet/IP or OPC.
