Van Beest and Hoist UK pick up LEEA Innovation Awards at LiftEx 2013 09 December 2013

Van Beest and Hoist UK were the winners in the LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) Innovation Awards, held at last month's (November 20133) overhead lifting industry exhibition LiftEx 2013.

Van Beest's Green Pin ROV shackles, which are designed for use with ROVs (remote-operated vehicles) in sub-sea environments, secured the prize for best product, whilst Hoist UK's Oblik modular lightweight load bearing structure picked up the award for best application.

"This is only the second year of the Innovation Awards, but we attracted a wide range of very impressive entries, ranging from lift planning software and RFID tags to ingenious modular lifting systems," says John Williams, operations manager for LEEA.

"However, the judges ultimately agreed that Van Beest and Hoist UK had demonstrated the most compelling evidence of innovative thinking to address demanding lifting applications."

Meanwhile, in other LEEA news, the organisation has elected Kenny Wright, business development manager for Servtech, as its new chairman, with Oliver Auston, managing director of Checkmate Lifting and Safety, the new vice chairman.

"LEEA has enjoyed phenomenal growth over the last few years, both in terms of membership and the range of training and accreditation services it provides," comments Wright.

"It is a huge privilege to serve as chairman, and my priority is to support the work of the board and employees of LEEA as they implement our future development plans and further enhance the association's worldwide reputation."
