Stertil Stokvis Rapidroll doors open access for British Gypsum13 July 2011

British Gypsum is reporting success with Stertil Stokvis RapidRoll fast-action industrial doors, which replaced earlier electro-hydraulic doors at its mines in East Leake and Barrow Upon Soar, following operational problems.

The firm has been installing RR600 Ultra RapidRoll doors over several years to provide access between mine sections.

A spokesperson makes the point that, because they are operated manually by a simple pull cord, the doors ensure fast access and closure for personnel, pick-up trucks, mining machines and mobile buckets.

In fact, Stertil Stokvis claims opening and closing speeds of up to 3.2 and 0.8 metres per second respectively, with standard sizes ranging up to 6x6 metres, and custom-configurations available.

The spokesperson also says that, despite air pressure fluctuating within the mines, the Class 3 wind resistance classification of the doors has ensured safety and security.

British Gypsum also now uses a number of other similar RapidRoll doors for controlled access to surface buildings at both sites.
