Siemens boosts machine to machine industrial networks 12 January 2015

Siemens has boosted its factory communications portfolio with a new technology partnership involving mobile industrial virtual network operator Arkessa.

This is Siemens' first partnership focusing on its RuggedCom and Scalance ranges, with Arkessa's machine to machine (M2M) platform providing for management and monitoring via a management portal.

Ian Poulett, industrial communications specialist at Siemens UK & Ireland, says it enables safe and secure access to any equipment through RuggedCom and SCALANCE machine communications products.

The platform can be integrated with existing management systems via standards-based APIs (application-programming interfaces), he says, and it can also be customised.

"Following the integration of our RuggedCom and Scalance solutions into one business unit, we wanted to identify a dedicated solution partner with unrivalled experience in the M2M market," explains Poulett.

"Delivering secure solutions and flexible deployment, and enhancing operational efficiency for end users is at the forefront of our industrial communication strategy," he continues.

"Through our new solutions partnership with Arkessa, we can continue to build on this."

"We pride ourselves on delivering solutions that provide precise, consistent and secure management and monitoring from anywhere in the world, regardless of mobile network or communications technology," states Andrew Orrock at Arkessa.

"We strive to make M2M and IoT [Internet of things] easy and we're delighted to partner with Siemens to support their expanding industrial communications ranges."

Arkessa operates globally, and has offices in the UK and Germany.
