Short lead time helps EOS Energy deliver solar farm in seven weeks16 December 2011

Spelsberg supplied 180 outdoor electrical enclosures in just four days to help EOS Energy build a 1.15MW solar farm in less than seven weeks – before the government's Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) rate reduction.

The Hendra Holiday Park in Cornwall solar power farm is now capable of generating 1.15MW, with EOS Energy used Spelsberg's BritSol mounting system.

Warwickshire-based EOS Energy, a specialist division of Alumet, deals with photovoltaic energy plant, providing turnkey solutions, and claims that this was the fastest installation of its size in Britain.

"Our manufacturing techniques have been developed to provide quick and reliable installation, and the project was an opportunity to prove this on a larger scale," comments Lee Summers, EOS Energy technical director, comments.

"As with all manufacturing jobs, though, we can only be as good as our suppliers. When you make a commitment to complete a project in such a short timeframe, it is essential that every component supplier is able to specify and deliver the correct parts in the correct numbers on as short a lead time as possible."

Daren Field, area sales manager for Spelsberg, comments: "We hold a large amount of stock at our headquarters in Telford. This means that when a project requires quick delivery we can often turn an order around in a matter of days."
