Rosemount pressure transmitter goes smart wireless 20 May 2013

Improved productivity and reduced downtime are the promises from Emerson Process Management, with the addition of Smart Wireless technology into the Rosemount 3051 pressure transmitter.

The device, which can be configured for pressure, level and flow measurement in the usual ways, effectively provides plant operators with a new option for monitoring additional assets that were hitherto infeasible with wired transmitters.

Emerson argues, with some justification, that the result should be reduced energy costs and increased process efficiency, as well as a safer environment.

And given the claim of maintenance-free performance with five-year stability and a 10-year power module life, it does appear that monitoring assets previously under manual management makes sense.

Emerson makes the point that equipment failure is the cause of nearly half of many plants' downtime, yet many assets go unmonitored due to cost constraints. With this wireless pressure transmitter, users can get a 40—60% cost saving over wired installations.
