A Modulift Multi-Point Lifting Beam was used to lift an 8-tonne precast section under an existing façade retention structure.
With 48 hours to get the necessary equipment on site, Keltbray, a company specialising in engineering and construction solutions, encountered a challenge when lifting the precast section in central London. With only 2cm of headroom to spare, the team turned to RSG Rentals for an effective solution. After consultation with Keltbray’s lifting team, the MP-12 beam was selected as the best beam for the job.
Precision Engineering for Tight Spaces
The MP-12 MultiPoint Beam, manufactured by Modulift, was a perfect fit for the project due to its low headroom design of just 630mm from the bearing points of the top and bottom shackles. With a 12-tonne lifting capacity and a 6-metre span, it provided the required strength and adaptability to execute the lift safely and efficiently.
The lift was carried out by Keltbray’s lifting team. Additional equipment included load ring lifting points, bow shackles, tag lines, and a counterbalanced lifting beam.
Delivering a Rapid Solution
The project was executed within a tight timeframe. Keltbray contacted RSG Rentals on a Monday, and by Wednesday morning, the MP-12 beam was delivered to the site, ready for the lift. The coordination between Keltbray and RSG Rentals, using Modulift’s equipment, ensured that the operation was completed safely, successfully, and on schedule.
“This project shows the power of collaboration and the importance of having the right lifting solution available at the right time,” said Sarah Spivey, managing director of Modulift. “The MP-12 beam’s capabilities were instrumental in overcoming the significant headroom constraints, and we’re proud to see it contributing to another successful lifting operation in the heart of London.”
