Lime slurry dosing responds to easy maintenance pumps 15 July 2013

An unnamed manufacturer of print and packaging materials in Lower Saxony, Germany, is reporting success with two EZstrip progressing cavity transfer pumps, from NOV Mono, at its wastewater treatment plant.

Its previous pumps, used for lime dosing duties, had required considerable maintenance, leading to high repair costs, according to NOV Mono.

The firm makes the point that lime slurry is aggressive, so can affect pumps, making this a very maintenance-intensive application. This made the maintain-in-place nature of Mono's EZstrip pumps attractive and prompted the user to try one.

Mono's progressing cavity pumps, which can be maintained without the need to remove other equipment or associated pipework, often allows servicing to be cut from a full day, to just 30 minutes, according to the firm.

The Mono pump transfers the lime, dosing at 10—55 l/min and 3 bar pressure, and, since it started operations, the user has now installed another and purchased Mono's EZparts – pre-assembled spares, with a variety of rotor and stator materials.
