Kärcher completes EDF Energy London Eye clean 29 April 2013

Cleaning specialist Kärcher has completed its clean down of the iconic London Eye in a three-week project, successfully removing traffic film and grime that's built up over 13 years.

Rope technicians used Kärcher professional hot water pressure washers to deep clean two to three capsules each night, while the city slept.

Kevin Dyer, head of technical operation at the London Eye, says that the cleaning project was environmentally friendly and didn't cause any risk to the Thames, as Kärcher used PVC 'pools' to collect all water and residue.

"This was very exciting for us as it's the most extensive clean the structure has seen since its opening in 2000, and a huge project," comments Dyer.

"We were delighted to be working with Kärcher, as we've seen some of the amazing work they have performed on other world- famous monuments. The London Eye is now ready for summer."
