Hydrastore gets Micron Eagle back in production 04 May 2012

Micron Eagle Hydraulics (Aberdeen) reports that Hydrastore saved the day recently, when the shaft on a hydraulic motor offshore fractured.

The incident happened on a Friday morning at 10.00am and, due to the critical nature of the equipment concerned, urgent replacement of the motor was crucial to allow offshore operation to continue.

Hydrastore, Italgroup's UK distributer, discovered that the radial piston motor required was not a UK stock item, but established that the motor could be manufactured, configured and tested in about five hours.

The order was placed at 11.00am and the motor build commenced, while Micron Eagle, Hydrastore and Italgroup sorted the logistical issues of getting the completed Motor to Aberdeen.

The solution – immediate despatch of a person to Italy to collect the motor on Saturday morning and return to Aberdeen. As a result, the motor arrived in Aberdeen at 2.30am on Monday morning and was successfully fitted as soon as the vessel docked in harbour that afternoon.
