Heat transfer choices revealed in Ormiston Wire paper 22 August 2013

Wire specialist Ormiston Wire has published a free white paper to help plant engineers specify heat transfer components.

Its report looks at the mechanics of heat exchange, technologies involved, uses in industry and advancements by Ormiston itself. The firm says it's aimed in particular at engineers in refrigeration, power plants, petrochemical and sewage treatment.

Ormiston Wire managing director Mark Ormiston says one of the key issues is achieving efficient heat transfer in pipe flow, where a fluid boundary layer significantly reduces the potential for effective heat transfer.

By inserting a wire turbulator down the pipe, engineers can reduce the diameter of the boundary layer, he advises building on developments by Ormiston Wire back in 1968.

"Using our extensive knowledge of the heat transfer market, we have helped many hundreds of customers with effective wire turbulator solutions," states Ormiston, adding: "We're now sharing some of that knowledge in our new white paper to help more customers towards new solutions."
