Government funding released for plant feasibility studies 13 June 2012

Seven companies are each to receive up to £75,000 government funding to carry out feasibility studies that could lead to the development and commercialisation of innovative approaches to sustainable manufacturing for the process industry.

The studies will be carried out by CCm Research, Centre for Process Innovation, Crown Packaging UK, Fine Organics, Minus Engineering, Robinson Brothers and Victrex.

The funding awards, from the Technology Strategy Board, are the first part of a £5 million investment in R&D that aims to stimulate sustainable manufacturing growth in the UK's process industries.

A competition for up to £4.6 million grant funding for major collaborative R&D projects is ongoing and the results are likely to be announced towards the end of August.

In addition to small-scale technical feasibility studies, the funding may be used to test and develop projects for future larger funding competitions.
