Automation company Festo has confirmed its production and logistics sites worldwide, including its headquarters in Germany, will be carbon dioxide (CO2) neutral from 2023.

Festo’s headquarters is located in the town of Esslingen, which is in the Stuttgart Region of Baden-Württemberg.

Festo CEO Dr. Oliver Jung said: "We want to express how automation technology can balance the supply of the world's population and protect natural resources via climate-neutral production at the same time. Festo is striving to transform industrial production into an efficient and more climate-friendly way of manufacturing."

According to Festo, automation is an enabler for the industrial change towards climate protection, resource efficiency, sustainability, and the circular economy. The company’s products and services are said to enable more resource-efficient production and help to establish a circular economy – with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions.

Festo has aligned its own sustainability goals with the United Nations. Scope 3 emissions are expected to play an important role as emissions from purchasing and logistics are considered alongside the use of products by customers.
