Emerson speeds wireless HART device configuration 15 May 2015

Plant operators and contractors wanting to configure HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) devices in bulk, can now do so using Emerson’s AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager v13.0.

Emerson Process Management says its latest software package not only saves time but also reduces errors.

Managing wireless networks is also easier as users can expand wireless networks faster and with more built-in reliability, according to the process management and control giant.

"[Operators] are under constant pressure to start up their plants more quickly to deliver product," states Peter Zornio, chief strategic officer of Emerson Process Management.

"Emerson is committed to delivering technology to promote engineering efficiency and help our customers reduce risk to project schedules and budgets."

Users can now standardise asset configuration for both HART and Foundation fieldbus devices, he says – simultaneously applying features, options and alerts to an unlimited number of devices.

Built-in validation reports automatically compare configurations and identify when devices deviate from the associated template, he explains.

After commissioning, changes can be applied in bulk to modify or fine-tune device configurations.
