Elantas sees significant steam savings with Gem26 May 2011

Italian insulation materials manufacturer Elantas Deatech reports significant savings in steam consumption at its site in Ascoli Piceno, following installation of Gem steam traps.

Giorgio Monni, Elantas plant manager, says the firm has now replaced all of its earlier mechanical steam traps throughout its process, utilities and steam distribution pipeline with Thermal Energy International's Venturi orifice design

Prior to the installation, he says its mechanical traps frequently failed open, closed or partly open, necessitating regular replacement and maintenance – and wasting large quantities of its steam production.

TEI's local engineer has now converted the whole site, including drip legs, heating systems and tracing application, with support from Elantas Deatech's technical department, in terms of sizing for some of the chemical processes.

"Thermal Energy International has supported the project throughout, with a survey of the steam traps, a payback report and bucket test," comments Monni.

"The Gem Venturi steam system has provided us with real savings and the prospect of a large reduction in maintenance costs," he adds.

Indeed, such has been the success at the Ascoli Piceno plant, that TEI has now received additional orders for Gem steam traps for the organisation's site in China.
