Compressor cuts costs at Johnsons Apparelmaster 24 February 2015

The Gateshead outlet of work wear and hygiene equipment supplier Johnsons Apparelmaster is reporting energy savings of more than £5,000 per year since installing a new compressor.

Plant operations support manager Carl Oakden says he sought advice from the North Shields sales and service centre of Thorite when the old compressor needed replacing and was recommended an HPC compressor with integral dryer for its efficiency and minimal space requirements.

The version selected is an HPC ASD50T SFC compressor with a capacity of 1.05—5.18 m³/min at 7.5 bar, complete with Sigma Control 2, a 25KW variable speed drive motor which can match output to varying demand.

"I have to say this is the best compressor I've come across," states Oakden.

"The increase in performance and efficiency has been quite dramatic, producing energy savings of over £100.00 per week, plus the added bonus of a reduced carbon footprint," he continues.

"Thorite also provides ongoing service for the installation, so it's a win-win situation as we've got complete peace of mind with really worthwhile savings."
