Atlas Copco’s ZBC energy storage systems have won the ‘Environmental Product of The Year’ award in the Association of Manufacturers and suppliers of Power generating Systems (AMPS) Excellence awards.

The accolade is given to a solution within the power industry that significantly contributes to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental impact while positively influencing the sector.

Atlas Copco’s ZBC energy storage systems have been recognised for their sustainable approach to power generation. The range is said to exemplify a concept of environmental impact reduction, lowering emissions and operating noise while providing versatile and renewable power solutions.

The ZBC energy storage systems are expected to enable customers to reduce their carbon footprint and make energy cost savings. The systems incorporate Lithium-ion batteries to provide emission-free operations.

Atlas Copco ZBC units can be used as a standalone power source or combined with generators, the power grid or renewable energy sources to make a hybrid power solution, as well as to create microgrids.

David Chambers, general manager at Atlas Copco Power Technique UK, said: “It’s a very exciting time in the industry. The UK is actively transitioning toward a low-carbon energy system and the demand and opportunities for this technology are growing significantly and will continue to do so. With products like the ZBC systems, we are able to offer unique solutions that help customers reduce their environmental impact. We will continue to innovate and integrate the latest battery technology, develop our portfolio and adapt to demands to keep our competitive edge and remain at the forefront of this technology in our sectors.”
