West Ashfield: the secret tube station05 May 2011

Join IPlantE for a tour of West Kensington's TfL training facility and be a train driver for the day. Time: 14.45 to 17.00. Venue: Ashfield House, Beaumont Avenue, West Kensington, London (from West Kensington tube station, turn left into Beaumont Avenue, walk to the tall cream building)

Situated on the third floor of an unassuming office block in West Kensington is a unique TfL training facility.

Stepping out of the lift, you would expect you are deep underground at one of London's many underground stations. However, this is actually a state-of-the-art, simulated environment that helps bridge the gap between theory and reality.

Equipped with a tube train, fully operational ticket barriers, a customer service help desk and even a newspaper stand, TFL have gone to great lengths to ensure this facility is as close to reality as possible. There is even a model railway and mock control room! This ensures that London Underground staff are efficiently trained before putting their skills to use for real.

Join IPlantE for a tour of this fascinating venue and be a train driver for the day!

This event is free, but places are strictly limited so don't miss out and book your place today.
