Vaughan and Pipe Centre in Newcastle College contract win 06 August 2012

Work has begun on Newcastle College's new Sixth Form building, using new modular engineered building services technology covering electrical containment, heating, chilled water and domestic services.

Pipe Center, working in conjunction with family owned Vaughan Group, has helped to design and develop 288 modules, and delivery begins next week (commencing 13 August 2012).

According to Bob Hughes, manager of Pipe Center's Modular Engineering facility, the firm's award-winning modular engineering service has allowed for an accurate finish, which was key to the building's look and feel.

"This is a great example of where a building has particularly benefitted from a modular engineered approach," he says. "The architectural concept was for a modern building with exposed pipework – and offsite assembly meant we could model in 3D, to achieve a really clean finish."

And Andy Mcleod, project manager at Vaughan Group, adds: "Using Pipe Center's Modular Engineering facility has saved us a considerable amount of time compared to traditional building methods, and will help us meet our 2012 completion date."
