Watson-Marlow award recognises business and technology excellence 22 July 2013

Peristaltic pumps specialist Watson-Marlow has been awarded the prestigious PwC 2013 West of England Business of the Year Award (in the turnover £25m category).

The awards scheme, sponsored by global professional services company PricewaterhouseCoopers and now in its 25th year, acknowledges business achievement.

The judges commented on the company's – part of Watson-Marlow Pumps Group, owned by Spirax-Sarco – recent launch of its Qdos range of chemical metering pumps, which saw sales targets exceeded by 200%.

They were also impressed by Watson-Marlow's financial performance – an average of 22% profit over the last five years – as well as its commitment to business and product innovation.

"Watson-Marlow impressed the judges with its historic growth trends, the pride and passion its people have for what they do and its future outlook based on continual investment in R&D and product innovation," states Nick Morgan, PwC tax partner and chair of the judges for this category.

"This is fantastic news for our entire business and for Falmouth, too," comments David Cole, managing director of Watson-Marlow.

"Our growth is driven by solid market knowledge, product innovation, strong business management – and, of course, great people."
