Variable speed compressor solves trailer plant expansion issues 12 June 2013

Trailers manufacturer Bradley Doublelock – which is currently increasing production at its Bingley, West Yorkshire, plant – is reporting that a variable-speed package has solved its changing air power requirements.

Michael Halliday, Bradley Doublelock's production engineering manager, explains that a data-logging exercise carried out on the plant's existing Hydrovane 822 compressor, by Thorite engineers, revealed that a unit capable of responding automatically to power fluctuations would save energy, emissions and costs.

Thorite proposed a Hydrovane HV30RS vertical enclosed variable speed compressor, with a maximum free air delivery of 190cfm – the logic including the fact that the unit is compact, quiet and low maintenance, while also capable of producing the air output demand.

"The ability to produce significantly more trailer components while reducing our energy usage obviously makes indisputable business sense and I'm delighted with the way Thorite has responded to our requirements," states Halliday.

"We can now implement our plans for the future knowing that we can deliver on whatever the needs of the market."
