Tank gauging system approved by NMi and TÜV 10 September 2012

Emerson's Rosemount Raptor 5900 radar tank gauging system has now been approved by the Dutch Metrological Institute NMi for custody transfer, while Germany's DIBt / TÜV Nord has certified it for overfill prevention.

Raptor includes high-precision radar gauges, and temperature and pressure measurement instruments.

The NMi certificate is written to OIML (International Organisation of Legal Metrology) requirements, which require at least 1mm accuracy for level, and means that the system can be used for automatic custody transfer within the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, the German DIBt / TÜV Nord tested and approved the 5900 radar gauge in line with the rules for overfill prevention. Raptor 5900 passed its reliability test, which comprises 5,000 overfill scenarios over the temperature range -40 to +70 °C.

The Raptor 5900 radar level gauge has also been approved for custody transfer in several other countries, and certified for overfill prevention to IEC 61508 safety standard with SIL 2 and SIL 3.
