Southern Water opts for Veolia’s Hydrotech Discfilter 05 November 2013

Southern Water's Goddards Green sewage treatment works in West Sussex is to get Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Hydrotech Discfilter plant for tertiary treatment.

Southern Water has joined an increasing number of UK water companies accepting that the low headloss, low maintenance and full automation of the Hydrotech Discfilter system makes it an attractive alternative to conventional sand filters, which sacrifices nothing in performance.

The change follows more than 15 years' experience of Hydrotech Discfilters in industries including power generation, food processing, mining, pulp and paper and textiles manufacturing.

This particular plant, which will meet a 95 percentile guarantee of 10mg/l TSS (total suspended solids) standard, is due to be operational by March 2014.

Hydrotech Discfilter modules for flow rates up to 1,000 L/s can be supplied on steel frames for building into concrete chambers or as stand-alone stainless steel tank units.

Modular design also allows flexibility in choice of materials – ABS plastic or stainless steel for the discs, 304 or 316 stainless steel for frames and tanks, and a choice of 10, 20, 500 or 1,000 micron woven textile filter elements – making it the perfect filtration system for a variety of industrial applications.
