P&M Pumps secures framework deal with Southern Water 15 April 2010

Solids pumping and mixing specialist P&M Pumps has secured a framework agreement with Southern Water to supply pumps and mixing systems.

The company, which is the UK distributors for Vaughan chopper pumps, has been supplying equipment to SW since 1995 on applications ranging from digester recirculation to cess reception, sludge blending and transfer, and tank mixing digester mixing.

Says Ian Rowland, sludge policy manager at Southern Water: "Digestion of sludge forms the backbone to the sludge treatment operation to produce quality soil conditioner. Using Vaughan pump systems for recirculation and mixing ensures that our policy of feeding digesters at high dry solids can be achieved, while minimising blockages and ensuring consistent products and reliable levels of gas production."

And he adds: "Since their introduction the ability to meet and maintain operating targets has been greatly improved."
