Street CraneXpress launches condition monitoring service22 September 2010

Street CraneXpress has now introduced condition monitoring to its ISO 9001 accredited services.

Ray Fletcher, director of Street CraneXpress crane & hoist division, says the new service includes diagnostics using technologies from vibration monitoring to oil analysis, acoustic analysis and thermal imaging.

He adds that, when used together, these can produce a detailed picture of the health of hoist gearboxes, motors, electrical components and all other mechanical handling systems.

The new service is aimed at all levels of material handling equipment, from heavy duty applications lifting hundreds of tonnes, to smaller hoists with a higher work rate.

Fletcher says that the service not only extends the life of valuable assets, but eliminates the risk of critical failure and allows maintenance requirements to be identified and programmed well in advance, to minimise disruption to production schedules.

Street CraneXpress also regularly visits sites to undertake statutory inspections in compliance with LOLER regulations, which allows engineers to carry out the conditioning monitoring at the same time.

The company's LEEA qualified engineers build a profile for each machine, and, in combination with a planned preventative maintenance programme, say they can extend the lifespan, maximising productivity for hoists, gantry cranes, and any mechanical device with a rotating or partially rotating element.
