HJ Weir expands into US, helped by Weg and Eriks 11 October 2011

Laundry finishing equipment manufacturer HJ Weir Engineering is expanding into the USA, in partnership, with maintenance products and services firm Eriks and electric motors giant Weg.

"We have been supplying equipment in the USA since 1960, operating through manufacturing licensees and distributors," explains Rob Weir, HJ Weir Engineering's managing director.

"However, recently we have been receiving an increasing number of enquiries direct to our headquarters at Chepstow. The volume of these enquiries, plus the availability of key personnel, has convinced us that now is the time to set up our own direct operation."

Weir says that the supply partnership his organisation has built up with Eriks and Weg Motors is key element, "providing us with certainty in terms of reliability, cost and delivery times".

He also makes the point that Weg's W22 range is available in standard IEC frame sizes for the Premium Efficiency IE3 rating – important because the USA demands Premium Efficiency motors.

"We are delighted to be part of the HJ Weir success story," states Marek Lukaszczyk, European marketing manager for Weg. "Weg is a global company, and has a major subsidiary in the USA, so the question of supplying support for HJ Weir stateside is already answered."
