Free seminar covers hearing protection equipment 06 January 2011

3M is inviting plant engineers and technicians who use hearing protection equipment (HPE) to a free, hands-on seminar at its UK HQ in Bracknell on Wednesday 23 February.

Sue Poole, of 3M's Occupational Health & Environmental Safety Division, says that at the event, delegates will find out more about the role of HPE in operative protection, through a series of educational presentations from 3M technical specialists.

The 3M team will also explain the 3M Hearing Conservation Programme – an on-site service provided to plant managers, involving training on the noise levels they face, the health effects of excessive noise, and how to select, correctly fit and maintain HPE products.

Delegates will also be able to book a session to try 3M's E-A-Rfit Validation System, an quantitative hearing protector fit-test system that, in a matter of seconds, delivers a personal attenuation rating – the noise reduction achieved for a given hearing protector.

"Our offering goes well beyond the provision of products," states Poole. "We believe it is vital to work with both employers and end users to ensure they are making the right choices and using the products optimally."
