Explosion prevention system for mobile equipment 21 January 2013

Pyroban has launched a new gas detection system aimed at mobile industrial vehicles used in 'enhanced safety areas'.

Now with options for infrared or pellistor gas sensing heads Gascheka Duo provides vehicle shut-off on detection of a flammable gas or vapour, helping to prevent an explosion.

Malcolm Davis, business manager for Pyroban's Industrial Division, explains that the equipment is a simple addition to any diesel, LPG or electric vehicle.

It is recommended for refineries, chemical and petrochemical operations, aerosol storage and distilleries in areas requiring certification to ATEX and IECEx Ex II 3 G and Ex nA nC ic IIB T5 Gc.

Gascheka Duo gives the vehicle operator a warning, if it detects a gas or vapour at 10% LEL (propane in air) and is designed to automatically shut down the equipment at 25% LEL.

"Typical applications include aerosol storage with an order placed last week to fit Gascheka Duo to 50 battery electric trucks working in the warehouse of a major logistics provider," states Davis.
