Emerson and Beamex partner on calibration and asset management 22 June 2012

Emerson has unveiled a combined asset management and calibration system that combines its AMS Suite predictive maintenance software with Beamex's CMX calibration software.

According to Ron Martin, vice president and general manager of Emerson's Asset Optimisation and Lifecycle Care, the integration with Beamex will help users transform their calibration practices.

It also broadens the scope of assets that can be calibrated and includes customisable calibration reports to improve analysis and documentation of asset status.

And there are facilities to enable manufacturers to comply with industry regulations, such as ISO 9001:2000, 21 CFR Part 11 and IEC 61511.

Users can harness diagnostic information from their plant assets on overall health, and work to improve to accuracy and efficiency.

Early adopters of the system like it: "We've eliminated 21,000 sheets of paper per year and streamlined our workflow, which reduced our calibration time by about 15 minutes per calibration," comments Don Brady of GlaxoSmithKline in Cork, Ireland.

"We've also eliminated calculation errors and rework because pass/fail calculations are performed in real-time out in the plant," he adds.

Brady also mentions the plant reduced scheduled calibrations by 8% as part of the data migration from their legacy system.

"As more industries require some form of regulatory compliance around calibration, this integration enables our users to optimise their calibration practices without introducing risk," states Martin.

"The partnership between Emerson and Beamex pairs two leaders in calibration to deliver a more robust calibration solution to the market," he adds.
