Design quality award for Bosch Rexroth’s Industry 4.0 communication platform 02 March 2017

Award for outstanding design quality. Award for outstanding design quality.

Bosch Rexroth’s interactive communication platform, ActiveCockpit, has achieved a prestigious international award for outstanding design quality.

The ActiveCockpit software received the ‘Special Mention’ award in the human interface category for its innovative design, at the German Design Award event.

As part of the company’s Industry 4.0 portfolio, ActiveCockpit collates, filters and visualises data in real-time and displays it on a touchscreen or tablet. By using simple operating elements individuals can navigate between areas simply and with ease.

Bosch Rexroth developers determined exactly what individuals require through extensive interviews and plant visits in order to deliver a clear, user-friendly interface.

Established in 2012, the German Design Award is already one of the most recognised design competitions worldwide. Presented by the German Design Council, it aims to discover and celebrate unique and ground-breaking design trends from around the world.

With a strict nomination process and a judging panel made up of experts from business, academia, science and the design industry, the German Design Award continues to build its reputation among professional circles and beyond.

“During the design process of ActiveCockpit, we were focused on the ‘employee experience’ in order to create a truly user-friendly platform,” Sean Kilgallen, marketing manager at Bosch Rexroth said. “We’re honoured that the German Design Council has deemed ActiveCockpit worthy of such an accolade, as it is one of many technologies we are developing to re-define the shape of manufacturing industry.

“The German Design Award not only highlight well-designed products but also inspire other companies to create equally innovative products by showing what can be achieved. ActiveCockpit is set to play an important role in the future of manufacturing and Industry 4.0, but by no means does it end there. We will continue to challenge the market and develop innovative products which push the boundaries across a broad array of applications, driven by quality design.”

The award ceremony for the German Design Award 2017 took place in Frankfurt on 10 February 2017.
