Dalkia digs deep for energy savings at Cleveland 08 August 2012

Cleveland Potash, the UK's only potash mine, has signed a contract with Dalkia, which will now operate and maintain its 16MWe CHP (combined heat and power) station at the Loftus plant.

The mine, which produces over a million tons of potash for fertilisers and more than half a million tons of salt each year from under the North Sea, has a high energy load.

It uses a total of five 3.2MWe CHP units, producing power and heat. Associated waste heat boilers are also used onsite to generate heat and process steam.

Dalkia has now deployed a full-time onsite team, with out of hours covered by Dalkia's mobile teams.

Ashley Malin of Dalkia says that its new five-year contract will provide 24/7 support and ensure efficiency at all times.
