Compressor manufacturer Champion raises £5,000 to help fund cancer research17 April 2020

Champion, a manufacturer and supplier of compressed air solutions, has raised £5,000 from the sale of 20 ‘special edition’ Breast Cancer UK air compressors.

The firm has donated £250 to the charity for every FM7/CT/270 and FM11/CT/270 machine sold in November and December last year.

In total, 20 plug-and-play units, which featured two orange stripes down each side, replacing Champion’s red and black branding, as well as the Breast Cancer UK logo, were produced and sold – with six machines snapped up by Birmingham-based distributor CJS Direct.

The FM oil lubricated screw compressors, which provide air in temperatures up to 46ºC, offer a complete compressed air system, including receiver, dryer, filters, and drain. They are said to be suitable for small businesses, such as workshops or repair centres,

Champion European business line director Colin Mander says: “We are delighted to be able to help Breast Cancer UK – and champion the valuable work that the charity carries out in the fight against this awful disease. We hope that this money, raised thanks to the generosity of our distributors and customers, will make a real difference to the lives of the thousands of people who are diagnosed in the UK each year, and fund research to help us understand and address the causes of breast cancer.”

Champion sales director Vince Blower adds: “We are proud to support such a fantastic charity and would like to thank all our distributors and customers for helping us to raise these vital funds. To reach a total of £5,000 is a fantastic achievement – we are blown away.”

Breast Cancer UK’s mission is to prevent new cases of the disease through education, scientific research, collaboration and policy change.
