Compact condensing boilers on course at Stantonbury 28 March 2011

Architecture MK is reporting success with installations of Potterton Commercial has Eurocondense two condensinb boilers at Stantonbury Campus in Milton Keynes, one of the largest schools in the UK.

The floor standing boilers were installed as part of two refurbishment projects, carried out over the summer break in successive years, and are now providing space heating for several areas of the campus.

Architecture MK engineer Barry Hickmott says his practice standardised on Potterton Commercial boilers "as we found them to be completely reliable, manoeuvrable and, with compact dimensions, easy to locate in plant rooms with difficult access".

In Phase I, three linked buildings are now served by three Eurocondense two 200kW boilers serving the LPHW radiator heating system. Phase 2 incorporates four Eurocondense two 250kW boilers, along with plate heat exchangers in several areas where they protect the existing pipework and radiators from the higher operating pressures of the new boilers.

All the boilers were installed by T Clarke East (Formally Aylward EMS) as part of the two major refurbishment projects which, in addition to upgrading the LPHW heating systems, also incorporated ventilation, air conditioning, domestic hot and cold water services, LV distribution systems, lighting and small power systems.

Hickmott makes the point that Eurocondense boilers are extremely compact and can fit through a standard 600mm doorway. They are also modular, and their technology enables seasonal energy efficiency of up to 94% gross as well as ultra-low NOx emissions levels, exceeding Class 5.
