Big guns line up for Big Bang19 February 2010

AstraZeneca, BAE Systems, Shell and Siemens are leading sponsorship of this year's Big Bang young scientists' and engineers' fair, to be held in Manchester from 11 to 13 March.

So far, more than 13,000 students have registered to attend the free event, which also hosts the finals of the National Science & Engineering Competition, aimed at encouraging young people to do more with science, technology, engineering and maths.

The sponsors say they will lead the event with interactive activities. Says Sir Anthony Cleaver, chairman of EngineeringUK, which leads The Big Bang: "Having leading companies from life sciences, aerospace, energy and electrical engineering allows us to show young people just some of the fantastic careers that are possible."
