Bestobell valves for first LNG fuelled harbour tug18 March 2015

Bestobell Marine has received a major new order from Wärtsilä Fuel Gas Handling Division (FGH) to supply cryogenic globe valves for the Middle East’s first LNG (liquefied natural gas) fuelled harbour tug.

The valves are to be fitted in Wärtsilä's LNG-Pac fuel gas systems for its new harbour tug design which will be built at Dubai Drydocks and will be operated by Dubai Maritime City.

Bestobell Marine was chosen as the preferred supply partner to Wärtsilä due to the company's experience in the marine sector and understanding of working with classification societies.

Over the past three years, Bestobell Marine's cryogenic valves have been used in the majority of low pressure fuel gas systems.

Bestobell Marine also produces high pressure globe valves that are fitted in fuel gas systems for MAN ME-GI engines where natural gas is injected into the engine at over 300bar pressure.

MAN has sold more than one hundred of these engines in the past two years, driving a rapid increase in demand for high-pressure cryogenic valves for fuel gas systems.
