Atlas Copco introduces next generation of compressed air filters 18 August 2021

New filtration solutions from Atlas Copco have been launched on the market.

Filtration is a crucial component of a compressed air system. If left untreated, compressed air can be contaminated with substances such as dirt, water, and oil, which can compromise compressed air powered tools, production processes and final products.

Until now, servicing a filter involved shutting down the entire compressed air system or installing 3-valve bypasses around every filter. Atlas Copco’s inPASS re-directs the air through the filter head during maintenance, allowing for safe filter cartridge replacement without interruption of the air flow. This means there is no need to install extra piping around the filters or to halt production for maintenance.

To maximise air quality, Atlas Copco has developed specialised filtration methods to take on specific contaminants. This includes a wrapped filter element for wet particles, a pleated element for solid particles and macro-structured activated carbon for oil vapours. Centrifugal filters are also available to remove water droplets from the air flow. As a result, customers have flexibility to choose the best filtration technology for their production environment.

Atlas Copco’s new filters also come with a user-friendly service indicator which displays running hours, differential pressure, and maintenance status. This allows users to maximise the lifespan of their filters and to plan the best time for maintenance. There is also a malfunction alert on the filter head that can be connected to a remote monitoring device.
