ABB updates low voltage electric motors guide 09 May 2014

ABB has published an updated version of it 128 pages Motor Guide – its most requested electric motor publication.

Specifically for low voltage electric motors – operating at less than 1,000V and delivering a maximum 1,000kW – the guide covers the standards, designs, configurations and general information about installation and maintenance.

This is a useful publication for all motor users, from design engineers to maintenance staff, and covers issues including dimensioning, energy efficiency, mechanical and electrical protection and noise.

Beyond the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), CENELEC (the European Committee for Electromechanical Standardisation) and NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) energy efficiency standards, this guide details the level of protection required for electric motors in different operating environments.

It also covers motor installation and maintenance best practices, including inspections, acceptance tests, handling, mounting and operation.
