Six auto de-raggers make it at Millbrook 06 April 2010

Following trials to test claims that Mono's EZstrip pump can be de-ragged in two-and-a-half minutes and stripped down and maintained in just 30, Southern Water has installed six at its sludge treatment centre in Millbrook.

Carl Smith, section leader at Millbrook STC, says they are being used to transfer sludges at various stages in the process, including centrifuge feed, digester feed and cake dilution.

"We have a preferred supplier agreement with NOV Mono and the EZstrip is our preferred asset. We have installed six EZstrip pumps, because of the de-ragging," he says.

Mono describes its EZstrip progressing cavity pump as "the biggest leap forward in progressing cavity pump design for 30 years".

The unit is an extension of Mono's Compact C range, designed to provide a quick and easy way to disassemble, de-rag and maintain a pump in-situ, cutting out the costly maintenance and downtime that sometimes dogs difficult water service.
