Dalkia helps Victrex increase energy efficiency15 July 2010

Thermoplastic manufacturer Victrex says it is now more energy efficient and achieving optimum combustion, thanks to the installation of energy conversion and management plant from Dalkia.

The contract, which sees the conversion of raw energy into clean, useable energy to meet the company's intensive demands, is also enabling Victrex to minimise its CO2 emissions, but at a fixed cost to the company.

Via its onsite energy centre, Dalkia takes natural gas energy and converts it into steam, which is supplied at guaranteed efficiency.

Dalkia is also providing a similar service for site water treatment, producing de-mineralised water for use in Victrex's manufacturing process of PEEK thermoplastic.

Geoff Moss, national account manager from Dalkia, says: "To accurately work out the fixed price cost for Victrex we looked at the type of plant, its age and condition. This also enabled us to estimate when maintenance works would be needed, allowing us to remove the possibility of any unexpected costs from arising later in the term of the contract."

And he adds: "Dalkia assumes all responsibility for the lifetime of the contract and ensures that, at the end of the agreement, the plant will be handed back to Victrex in the same, or better condition as when the contract commenced."
