Outsourced MRO stores at Liverpool print works 15 March 2011

The Prinovis site in Liverpool has signed a five-year agreement with Eriks Integrated Solutions for the provision of MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) equipment procurement and stores management at its Liverpool site.

Thomas Peeney, purchasing manager at Prinovis, says the contract will allow Prinovis to benefit both commercially and operationally.

"With our plant being fully operational it is important for us to concentrate on our core business," says Peeney. "However, before we handed over the responsibility of buying our spares and running our stores to a third party, we wanted to make sure we were dealing with a company we could trust."

"Prinovis operates in a time-sensitive industry and we were mindful of this throughout our discussions," comments Paul Lynch, Eriks sales director. "Outsourcing the MRO stores can be a big step, and it is important that the requirements of the engineering, purchasing, finance and HR departments are met."

Peeney expects Eriks to bring value-added activity to the sites in areas such as 5S stores management techniques, technical innovations and inventory reduction.

"Eriks was able to show us that it kept large stocks and had an excellent logistics system, but we wanted more. Talks with its other customers showed us that it has a track record of keeping its promises and that was important in the final decision," he explains.
