Moon shot01 November 2009

History was made on Friday 9 October when NASA sent a 2,200kg Centaur rocket stage hurtling into the far side of the surface of the moon, followed by an unmanned spacecraft containing an array of sensors, including an infrared camera to record the impact.

The Thermoteknix Miricle TB2-30 camera detected a minute flash as the Centaur hit the moon, recording the temperature rise as a new crater was formed.
