EEMUA Mechanical Integrity course approved for CPD by Society of Operations Engineers16 July 2020

The Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association (EEMUA) has announced that the content of its Mechanical Integrity (MI) course has been approved for continuing professional development by the UK Society of Operations Engineers (SOE), a Professional Engineering Institution, licenced by the Engineering Council, whose members inspect, maintain, and manage machinery and equipment.

The MI course is aimed at those responsible on a day-to-day basis for ensuring mechanical integrity of plant and equipment, particularly where there are hazardous substances present.

There is increasing concern about the competence of specialist staff, as weakness in this area is often highlighted by regulators as a factor in root cause analysis of incidents, according to the EEMUA, which says that keeping up to date with theory and good practice can help guard against complacency.

It adds that having the course benchmarked by a professional engineering institution enables students and employers to be sure that the contents will develop staff competence and provides a vote of confidence in the approach taken by EEMUA.

The next MI course is being run live online on 9-10 September 2020.
