Comment: Tick tock06 September 2019

There are just 20 Fridays until Christmas. That is the post that popped up on my social media newsfeed during August thanks to my mother-in-law. (Shakes head in despair). I jest of course, but knowing that Christmas is just around the corner also means that there are a host of industry events coming up between now and December that are worth a visit.

From 24-27 September, at the NEC, Birmingham, logistics show IMHX will give delegates an opportunity to see the newest products and services to enter the market, meet suppliers, and hear latest trends. (www.is.gd/hexihi).

Maintec, the exhibition dedicated to the maintenance, reliability and asset management industry, is also returning to the NEC from 30-31 October, with the aim of creating a forum for engineers to meet suppliers, learn from experts and source technology and equipment. Among the organisations that will be exhibiting are Fluke Corporation and Petro-Canada Lubricants, to name a few. Seminar sessions, meanwhile, will include a combination of case studies, technical insights and presentations, with our very own SOE providing CPD accreditation. More details at: www.is.gd/afomiz.

In November, the SOE will also be hosting the ‘SOE Symposium’, which will look at ‘the connected world’. Taking place on 7 November at thestudio in Birmingham, delegates will hear real life examples of how connectivity is enabling major improvements across maintenance and repair, learn the latest thinking and standards relating to safe, sustainable engineering, and network and engage peers. More details at: www.is.gd/ulakif.

And finally, from27-28 November, is the Energy Management Exhibition (EMEX) at the Excel London. The event promises a range of exhibitors and seminar sessions to get stuck in to (www.is.gd/uxukuw).

You may already have Christmas marked off in your diary, but it is well worth getting these industry events in there too.
